Benign Fibroadenomas - Not being removed

Hi everyone, I’ve just had my results and the lumps are benign Fibroadenomas. My lumps were different in each breast, the left lump felt fixed and showed a shadow & calcification. On the US they looked very different too. I just wanted to share this with anyone’s lump not moving it shows that not all Fibroadenomas are movable under the skin. No follow up treatment they are leaving them in. I’ve just to check regularly for any changes. I’m based in Scotland is this normal for them not to be removed? Xxx

Hi  Susie , brilliant news! Don’t worry about them, plenty of women have them for years, me included! ?

Aww thank you for replying, that’s reassuring to know as I’ve read they should be taken out xxx

Hi i have just been for a scan today and was diagnosed with fiboardenomas. My GP advised the hospital will do an scan and probably remove the lump at some point as im in pain however today i was discharged from hospital with a leaflet and asked to go back to my doctor if there are any changes. My breast are really painful and now im not sure what i should do! I feel lost. Im thinking of going back to the GP, but im not sure what she can do as she already knows how paiful it is. But yes, i think most people are discharged without removal of the lump. :frowning: x

Hi, I am so confused with the system, having read other peoples stories I’m beginning to think I should press to get it removed. I also received my letter from the hospital today and feel slightly uneasy by it’s wording! ‘As explained to you these are benign lumps that USUALLY stay the same and don’t turn into anything sinister. We tend to leave them alone’ what’s your thoughts on this? xxx

I discussed my conerns with my Dad (i tell him most things) and he asked the pharmacist at his work for advice. Basically the hospital can only advise that they wont remove any lumps but you can demand (seems like such a harsh word) for the lump/s to be removed. I find my breast painful and uncomfortable doing daily things so i am going back to my GP to ask her to send me back the hospital for the lump to be removed, i also want my left breat looking at as that one is also really tender around the armpit area. I hope this helps you, i wish i’d made more of an effect at the hospital about removal as im basically starting the whole process again :frowning: xx
