Benign fibroidnoma for more than a 7 years. What should I do?

Hi all, I am 28 years old now, I first noticed my fibroidnoma almost 7 years back and than got diagnosed several times and than 5 years back after getting the biopsy, cytology, ultrasonography etc done the doctors confirmed that it is benign fibroidnoma and its about 4cm and the doctors decided to rather try it out with a medicine before opting for surgery but after continuing the medicine later I dint see any changes the fibroidnoma did not go away so I was left with the surgery option but I am too scared of that and also I don’t have any history of breast cancer in my family. It’s been almost 5 years now that I dint get it diagnosed I am not suffering from pain or any such but than I am just worried and scared for future I really don’t wish to get the surgery. What should I do? Any advice

Hi Salina,

Utimately it’s up to you what you do Selina, but please be assured surgery would be quite straightforward.

It sounds like you need a bit more information on this to make an informed decision. It might be an idea to post on the ‘ask our nurses’ board.

Hello and welcome, I would echo ann’s comments, honestly surgery is really straighforward, although mine was breast cancer, I was in had my op and was back home by 5pm the same day.  My scar is hardly noticable now 11 months later and the relief of knowing that it was gone was worth more than anything.

What is it that you are actually scared of about the surgery if you dont mind me asking?

Hi Ann! Thank you so much for your reply!

Hi Helena! Thank you for replying. I am actually scared of the process of the surgery specially about the pain also incase if something goes wrong and also of the scar but mostly I am scared of the pain if I would be able to endure it that’s why I wished I could ignore surgery and opt for other but than I don’t think there is any other option besides surgery to get rid of fibroidnoma. But it’s quite nice and comforting to know that your surgery went well with no scar. Take care. Thanks
