Benign Phyllodes Tumour

Hi, I’m new here and just wondered if anyone could help.

A couple of months ago I found a lump, after a mammogram, ultra sound and biopsy and the longest week, waiting for the results, the consultant said that they had decided to remove it. At the time they said that they were unsure whether it was a fibroadenoma or a phyllodes tumour. They said that there were some abnormal cells but nothing that signalled it as malignant.

About 3 weeks ago I had the lump removed and went back for the results last week.
The consultant said that it was a benign phyllodes tumour and that I had to go back in 6 months for further scans etc

Although I am relieved that it was found to be benign, and I know that there are so many people who have had a very different and more difficult diagnosis, I still feel that I don’t really know what this means. I have found that people hear the word benign and they tell me I’ll be fine but I still feel confused about it all.

The consultant didn’t explain anything else about the condition and, after scanning the web for info, I feel confused regarding reoccurrence, prognosis etc

Because they were unsure as to what the lump was I am also unsure as to how much surrounding tissue they removed.

I just wondered if anyone else had had a similar experience and if they could shed any light on things for me

Many Thanks
Txx
