The biology and behavior of a Bilateral cancer affects the treatment plan. Some tumors are small but grow fast, while others are large and grow slowly. Treatment options and recommendations are very personalized and depend on several factors, including:
The stage of the tumor
The tumor’s subtype, including hormone receptor status (ER, PR) and HER2 status (see Overview)
Genomic markers, such as Oncotype DX™ and Mammaprint™ (if appropriate) (See Diagnosis)
The patient’s age, general health, and preferences
The patient’s menopausal status
The presence of known mutations in inherited breast cancer genes, such as BRCA1 or BRCA2
With the changes of medical technology , you can get a better remedy in some countries. I also got a Cancer forum app and you can get a better Compassion and hope using this app.
Hi, I had bilateral bc too. I had three tumours on the right and than they found a very small one on the left as well as a lot of DCIS. I had a second mx six weeks after the first. All the tumours were the same kind (er+ her-) so my treatment was the same as if I’d had it in one side only. Chemo and rads on right side only I was petrified when they said they had found it on the other side, but with hindsight I’m just pleased to have got rid of both boobs.
Pit is a very scary time, but the treatment is effective. I’m on tamoxifen for ten years but otherwise feel fine.
Please pm me if you want to chat further
lots of love
