Billirubin

If my billirubin is high, could I have liver mets?

My last 3 blood tests were 24, 26 and 34. All this year.

Now oncologist wants a CT scan before my chemo is allowed. More waiting. I’m now 9 months since diagnosis.

I am really scared.

I understood youre really scared but dont start to panic until you know exactly what youre dealing with.
You dont say what type of chemo youre on. I was on kadcyla & had high billirubin for a number of weeks. They gave me a break in my treatment and it came down. Oncologist then changed my treatment.
Its hard not to worry but try to keep yourself occupied with something else until the results come in.
Wishing you luck

Hi lovely
I completely understand
Have you started chemo yet or not ?
Liver results can vary for loads of reasons and doesn’t at all necessarily mean the cancer has spread ! It could be gallbladder or any number of things . They are always very cautious because the last thing they want to go is give you treatment that will cause you any harm ( well chemo but you know haha )
I’m on a targeted therapy at the moment and my liver bloods have gone haywire , currently waiting for a CT
Sending huge hugs and hope your next bloods have gone down enough for you to get your chemo xx

I havent started chemo yet @Luskentyre1. It is EC then docetaxal. These billirubin results were from the bloods they do before I start. I read that stress can elevate your billirubin. Maybe its that.

Hope you’re doing well now x

Thank you @loobyloop. That is reassuring. Not started chemo yet. Its another delay in a very long road as I was diagnosed last December and long pathology waits and multiple surgeries have delayed my chemo. I just want to get started ASAP. Hope you get your CT snd results very quickly. Xx

Ok. That makes sense.
This is such a worrying time, before you start treatment & are awaiting results.
I had so many bumps on the road, extra scans, worrying about spread etc.
You are going to get through this.
Easier said than done, but try to relax. Get away for a night away, meet a friend for a coffee, go for a drive on your own. Anything to take your mind off it.
Once you start treatment its a lot easier because you know what to expect ans what youre dealing with.
Sending you positive vibes x

Hi bluesatsuma,

Thank you for your post.

It sounds like you are having a difficult time and so understandably feeling scared. A change in bilirubin as @loobyloop says can happen because of several reasons. This may be why your oncologist wants to do a CT scan to help understand better.
