I’m here on behalf of my Mum who is going through the stress of waiting for her biopsy results. A bit of a background. She found a lump on her right Breast, went to GP and received an urgent referral to the Breast Clinic. Two weeks later she had a mammogram, ultrasound and biopsy. The doctor advised she will receive a call if the lump turns out to be benign but the nurse said that she will receive a follow up appointment.
We were little bit confused and as a result worried that if she doesn’t receive a phone call it’s bad news.
Couple of minutes after leaving the hospital she received a follow up appointment in three weeks time. I have called the Outpatients booking today to make sure she has an interpreter for the day only to receive a text in the evening to say it has been permanently cancelled and there is nothing she needs to do, 8 days before her scheduled appointment! Do we needs to be worried? Will she receive a phone call instead? Or a new appointment? I’m looking for little bit of advise and reassurance x
Welcome to the forum, we are all here for you and mum. What a worrying time you are having at the moment, I would give the breast cancer nurse at the hospital a call explaining how worried and concerned you are, I don’t think they would give mum bad news on a telephone consultation so fingers crossed for a good outcome.
Please let us know how you and mum are getting on, wishing mum well going forward.
I have called the Breast unit and spoke to the nurse secretary, she has confirmed the cancellation as a new phone appointment has been booked for tomorrow, the results will be delivered by the nurse. Thank you for the reassurance xxx
