Biopsy grading

Hello everyone, today for some reason I re-read my histology results showing the grading. Does anyone know what the M1 stands for? There seems to be various explanations depending on where you look, like disappearing down a rabbit hole.

I’m just jumping on as you don’t have any response as yet.
One option would be to call the Breast Cancer Now nurses on this site who are always ready to give wonderful advice and support.
I’ve popped the details below, they certainly were a huge support for me. I hope you get answers soon xx

Hi lynn, thank you so much, I’ll try that x

Hi polly38

Thank you for posting. It is understandable that you have questions about your pathology report and the meaning of M1.

The ‘M’ in the report refers to mammogram grading and M1 means normal breast tissue on mammogram.

It is unclear from your post whether you have a diagnosis of breast cancer. When diagnosing breast cancer, a number of investigations are done including physical examination, mammogram, ultrasound, and tissue biopsy. The results of all these investigations can be recorded on the histology report, but it is the tissue biopsy result that confirms the diagnosis. It may be helpful to ask your breast care nurse to explain your report to you as they can access your medical notes.
