I hope this is okay to ask here and this is the right place apollogies if not
.
I had my results appointment moved to the same day I’m being discussed at a MDT meeting (afternoon meeting) following on from a excisional biopsy (my choice) of what was a originally confirmed “simple fibroadenoma” by CNB. My original findings were a P2, U3, B2 clasifaction and the U3 was because of noted increased vascularity and location retroareola ( directly behind my nipple). My appointment is at 5pm so out of normal operating hours for the clinic and the letter states “ I may need to be seen by more than one specialist in this clinic’. Non of my other appointment letters have stated this. Not even my CNB result appointment letter. Is this normal or are there specific clinics that run at these times?
Does anyone have any experience of this? And was there news positive? Am I just overthinking it and it’s just a normal generalised letter?
Hello rennie1989,
Thank you for your post.
It’s understanding that you have questions about your appointment for your excision biopsy result. As you know the NHS is very busy and many breast clinics have extended their hours to meet demand.
Your initial biopsy confirmed a simple fibroadenoma. Your recent results and plan will have been discussed in the MDT meeting before you get seen in the clinic. There are often several doctors and nurses in the clinic. Clinic letters are often based on templates so the wording may be different to your previous letters.
Waiting for results can often be a stressful time so do call our helpline if you would like to talk this through or have any further questions. The helpline team have time to listen, talk things through and signpost you to additional support and information if necessary.
