Hello lookingtothestars
Thank you for your post.
It’s understandable to have concerns about the different processes that happen in a breast clinic between the staff that work there and their communication with the patients.
The fact that the doctor you saw, told you it was breast cancer would suggest that they are fairly certain. However, a biopsy is always needed to confirm this, and treatment will not go ahead until the results have been confirmed and discussed.
Being given an appointment date before this is confirmed must feel a little premature, so your ‘wishful thinking’ is understandable. However, having an appointment booked ahead of the results being available does make sure there are no delays if treatment is to be discussed and planned.
