I have had a wide local excision 10 days ago and today I got a sudden urge to wee for about an hour and in that time I had blood in my wee . I am triple negative, could it be a uti although I’ve never had them. Thank you. emphasised text
Get in touch with your surgery who will probably want a urine sample to test for infection . If you’ve been feeling unwell after anaesthetic and not drinking enough water it’s possible you might have an infection , also your immune system will have taken a little dip as it will be working on healing your breast. Make sure to drink plenty of water to flush your system out. If you have been asked to take a blood thinner after surgery it could just possibly be related to that and it might be worth informing your BCN as well especially if you have another episode . Take care xx
Sounds like a UTI to me. Get an appointment with your surgery and they will be able to confirm it. Take care.
Thank you, I’ve been to the out of hours and they’ve prescribed me antibiotics as he thinks it’s possibly an infection. Yrs, I will ring breast care to let them know. Thank you, everything is just so stressful at the moment. Xx
Thank you, I have. Every change in the body is a big deal at the moment and I automatically jump to the worst case scenario. Xx
Keep drinking water avoid strong coffee and orange juice and cranberry . The most common infections are caused by e.coli and also respond well to DMannose which you can get in Holland and Barratt / Boots / from Amazon . I also find lemon barley water helpful . Stress seems to cause UTI in some people as it can cause changes in pH that makes you vulnerable to them. It is a really stressful time for you right now but if there’s anything you can do that will help you to relax a little then do it - be kind to yourself . Xx
