Hi everyone
I had several core biopsies taken from two lumps in my right breast on the 11th. How I got to that point is a bit of saga which I’ll spare you, but one of my symptoms had been persistent discharge from my nipple.
My discharge changed to bloody after the biopsy which made sense to me as the lumps are deep behind my nipple, I can’t even feel them. But I’m nearly two weeks down the line and it’s still leaking blood, should I be concerned? It’s likely to be another 1-2 weeks until I get the results. Set up at our hospital isn’t great so the biopsies have to be reviewed by two pathologists which takes 7-10 days and then sent to the consultant who reviews and writes the appropriate letter. He’s only in hospital one day per week hence the 3-4 week waiting time for results.
Do I need to be consulting my gp in the meantime or from experience is the continuing bloody discharge normal?
Thanks Gilly

Hi Gilly,
I’m afraid I haven’t shared your experience, but from what you’ve said, I think I’d be doing two things (if it were me). Firstly, I’d be on the phone to the breast clinic, explaining what’s going on. Secondly, I’d go to my GP ASAP to double check. But, first port of call would be the clinic, as they have already seen you.
Don’t be worried about ‘nagging’ them into getting an answer. If you have the number of the breast care nurses, I’d try them. Or phone the hospital and ask to be put through to the breast care clinic.
Hope you get sorted soon. Please keep us posted. Love and hugs, Mel. xxx
