blisters

Hi all,
First time on here, finished chemo and radiotherapy in september following a lumpectomy, all lymph nodes thankfully clear. I now have painful blisters on my nipple (recent). I am now panicking again :frowning: Im really trying to get back to normal, whatever that is ? Doctor reassured me its normal but when I rang radiotherapy unit they said its not! Has anyone had anything like this?
You’re all fab by the way and this site is great, really makes you feel you aren’t alone x

Hi Minnie
Sorry no-one has answered,I can’t help much but you should get it checked, can you call your BCN?
It could just be a skin reaction to the rads or something.
I found my rads dept always said my symptoms were not caused by rads (everyone else said they were rads related!)
Good luck

Hi Minnie - please get it checked but i’m really hopeful its rads damage, i’ve known of others where that’s exactly what it was.Get it checked out anyway.x

sorry minny just seen this and yes i had a very sore painfull nipple and it was quite blistered and swollen couldnt stand bra rubbing on it and itchy aswell i was given hydrocortisone cream from oncologist and it worked fine but she said if it didnt work i could get flamazine ( what they use for burns ) aswell but didnt need it I know they did say my symptoms could get worse before they got better cos the radiation cont’s to work even after you finished I finished my rads 1st nov, but for peace of mind do ring bcn and get it looked atxx julie

Thanks ladies, hopefully it is down to the rads, it just seems a long time after to be still getting affects from it.
Wish I could get in touch with my bcn, left messages for her to call but no-one ever gets back to me xxx

Hi Minnie,
This is obviously worrying for you and not getting a reply from your BCN is not helping. Here are a few suggestions. Are you able to contact your oncology unit direct? I was lucky enough to be able to do that so that anything I was concerned about was dealt with quite quickly. Can you contact the BCN units secretaries and leave a message there? How about you telephone your surgeons secretary and explain your concerns. Anything is worth a go for peace of mind.
