bloated stomach?

Hi
I am experiencing some discomfort under ribs - both sides and have noticed stomach is quite bloated ( and i have quite a lot of wind here and there!!) am having weekly taxol with herceptain and bone stuff - anyone else had this or knows what it might be thanks . jayne x

don’t think i can help but thought i’d send you some cyber support seeing as no one else has posted yet.

i’m on 3 weekly herceptin and bone stuff, haven’t taken taxol. i haven’t had this problem apart from the ‘normal’ sort of bloating & wind everyone gets every now and then.

Hi there,

I just want to say don’t suffer in silence. Bloating and all manner of digestive issues are well-known side effects of many different chemos. If you discuss it with your onc they should prescribe you medicine to deal with it - something like Omeprazole.

Hope you get it under control.

thank you for your replies - I will talk to chemo nurses on friday - think i am getting edgy as well as scan is near…will let you know if its anything worth reporting! take care , jayne x

Hi,

I had chemotherapy In Jan 08 and completed the course in Apr 08. I continued with Herceptin until Dec 08. I was on TCH (Taxol, Herceptin etc) and my main problem was a bloated stomach. Talk to your onco about it and they will prescribe you medication for gas build up. My bloated tummy persisted even till today but its gets better by the day. I also had a funny feeling under my left rib. When I rub my tummy it gets bigger and I demonstrated this to my onco and a surgeon specialising in colon problems. Both said that there is nothing to worry about and its just gas. I suspect that the chemo weakened my stomach lining. So nothing to worry about. I had searched the internet last year but could not find anyone with the same problem.

Thanks Jenny and superwoman - that helps - i will give my stomach a rub and see if it performs!!!and yes, i am very anxious about scan…hope its all gas …and nerves! jaynex
