A bit about me.
I have just been sent an appointment for the breast care centre as my doctor has found two small lumps on the right side of my chest.
I have already been through the prostate cancer radiotherapy and am on hormone therapy.
Just wondering if anyone could give me a heads up on what to expect
Thanks
Hi @littlet welcome to the forum, I hope that you find support here.
I’m not sure if you are aware but the forum has a special subgroup for men who have, or have had, breast cancer. You might want to repost your question there.
If you go to the category “Connect to people like me” on the main forum page ( you may have to press All Categories which generally appears at the bottom) and click on it, you will find the subcategory “Breast cancer in men”.
You may also find it useful to phone the Breast Cancer Nurses on 0808 800 6000. They are all experienced in this field, give you time to ask your questions and nothing is off-limits if you want to discuss how your situation is affecting you. They are open 9am - 4pm Monday to Friday and 9am to 1pm on Saturdays.
I hope that you find someone to help.

Breast cancer in men
Is the link to the section Tigress mentioned.
Hi @littlet
If it’s anything like I and many others have experienced there will likely be a physical examination followed by tests ; ultrasound scans of your breast and armpit and possibly biopsies , sometimes a blood test. Women always have at least one mammogram - maybe one of the men on here will let you know about any other tests they had which I haven’t mentioned . When they have completed all tests and examinations ( up to 2 hours including waiting between) either a Dr. or a Breast Care Nurse will call you in and give you an appointment for your results . If they are fairly confident of the result they will probably tell you what they think it is / is not but either way you may need to wait for results and sometimes for the MDT to discuss your case . Mine was a straightforward early ER + cancer and I got my results and treatment plan in a week some people have waited quite a bit longer . I imagine that with your history you may be one that the MDT will be involved with even if everything is negative - and I will keep my. fingers crossed for you . I’m sure I don’t have to tell you to write down questions in advance etc . I was on my own for my appointment because it was lockdown but my friend drove me there and back. I could probably have driven myself , even though I had been told it was most probably cancer but to be honest although it was a largely positive experience and I didn’t have pain from the biopsies it was a bit tiring and I was also glad of the company on the way back.
