Hello all,
I’m hoping someone can give the benefit of their experience.
At my last scan (last week) it was noticed that I had a blood clot in my lung (small PE). I was put onto a therapeutic dose (120mg) of Clexane. I had previously been on a prophylactic dose while on chemotherapy.
My onc has decided to put me on Tamoxifen and thinks that the high dose of Clexane will offset any problems with blood clots that Tamoxifen may cause.
Has anyone else been on tamoxifen with a history of blood clots?
I think I just need a bit of reassurance that I am not likely to keel over with a pulmonary embolism.
Thanks

Hi Tinks
Is there any reason you can’t have an aromatase inhibitor instead of Tamoxifen? Given the fact you have/had a blood clot it seems excessive that you will now have a daily Clexane injection to cope with as well. I have had AIs (before the menopause was brought on by ovary ablation) and had monthly zoladex injections which, although costly and still involving injections, are less frequent than the Clexane. By the way, due to having had a TIA last year from a heart condition I had Clexane for about 6 months but am now on a daily blood thinning tablet, one of the newer types, that doesn’t involve the blood tests and problems associated with warfarin and chemo, so there other options out there.
