I had some bllood discharge from my right breast and although nothing was detected on the mammogram, the ultrasound showed a dilated duct. Nothing was done on the day but I was scheduled for an operation a week later.
On the day of the operation the surgeon could not localise the duct because it was no longer visible on the ultrasound and the bleeding had stopped. So the operation was cancelled and I will be followed up regularly. Does anybody relate to this?
I noticed a lack of communication between radiologist and surgeon and I am worried that the second ultrasound was misleading. If there is something malignant and has not been removed I am taking an unnecessary risk.
What are the chances that some kind of infection can cause blood discharge and duct dilation and go away in a week or so?
