I’m 31 and finished breastfeeding my son at Christmas time. I did so gradually and at no point felt engorged or sore. I had a funny pain in my left breast, different to anything I’d felt before but No lump was present and I didn’t feel it again for a while so I forgot about it. Last night I felt the pain again and checked to see if I was still producing milk and blood came out. I checked the other nipple and a tiny drop of milk came out, no blood. With it being a Friday night when this happened I haven’t seen a doctor and will ring first thing Monday morning. I’m driving myself sick with worry. Just wondered if anyone had experienced anything similar.
Hi Laura,
Nothing you can do until Monday & worrying won’t change anything, but you are totally right to get it checked out.
Most likely it’s nothing serious & possibly related to recently discontinuing breast feeding. Bc would be the Least likely reason for it.
If your Dr refers you to the breast clinic, then that would be usual procedure, so don’t read anything into it. The breast clinic is for all breast conditions & they are the experts in getting it sorted out.
Chances are, all is well, but do get it checked out.
