My wife, who is on Avastin and Taxol, had a very large amount of blood in her urine this morning. ( completely red )
We have an Onc appointment anyway today, has anyone ad a breakthough into the kidneys or is it just the Avastin ?
Help please.

Hi Terry,
Sorry to hear this about your wife. If it will help, the helpline opens at 9am UK time. The number to call from outside the UK is (+44) 2076 200077
Kind regards,
Jo, Facilitator
Thanks Jo, I am a bit worried as I cannot find a link from Avastin to Kidnet failure

this is probably an avastin problem - every time I go for avastin they test for blood in the urine. glad you have an appointment today to bring this up…,let us know how you get on …sending best wishes.

Hi Terry, sorry I have no advice but I just wanted to say I hope your wife has a good appointment today…Good Luck and Best Wishes to you both…Belinda.
Been to see the onc. They have not admitted her but we have to go back at 4pm to see an urologist.
dear Terry
I googled ‘avastin blood urine’ and found a ‘chemocare’ site which suggest that avastin can cause damage to the tiny blood vessels in kidneys. It also lists ‘blood in urine’ as a symptom which requires medical attention, but is not an emergency. I konw from my own experience that cystitis can also cause blood in urine, something which was very alarming at the time but resolved itself.
Best wishes to you and your wife, I hope this is simply a side effect which can be fixed.
Sarah
Hi Terry,
sorry to hear about the blood in urine as has beeen said before my wee is always checked before avastin have had a protein problem and calcium but not blood.
Good luck for this afternoons appointment.
Love Debsxxx
She is having her " system" washed out and then we have to watch for any more blood. If there is any tomorrow then it is off to Emergency. Otherwise we have to collect all wee until Friday morning and have it tested then. Ultrasound then as well.
Back to Onc next Monday, >i think this means the end of Avastin/Taxol.
I will advise how it goes
Thanks to all.
Terry
