blood pressure and tamoxifen

HI
Has anyone experienced high blood pressure since taking tamoxifen, previously I didn’t suffer at all with this but since earlier this year I have now got blood pressure and am also being checked out for blood sugar.I spoke with the breast cancer counsellor and she says there is no link at all as does my doctor so it could be coincidental. Thanks if anyone replies

Hi Dejay
Yes, I definitely had this happen to me when I took Tamoxifen with my primary bc. Unfortunately I have gone on to develop mets but during the time that I stopped taking Tamoxifen and went onto other hormone therapy (with my mets) my blood pressure went down to normal again, therefore in my case I think it’s directly linked. In fact, as not many professionals seem to be aware that this can happen, my BP went quite low once I was off Tamoxifen as my BP medicine had not been changed. I came off all BP medicine for about a year but am now back on some of it as my BP has risen again. This could be linked to the menopausal effect that Tamoxifen causes but it is well worth keeping an eye on this.

Hi Dejay
I have been on Tamoxifen for 16 months and 2 months ago I had my blood pressure taken at the GP and it was significantly higher than normal ( normally 120/65). GP was not concerned however when I saw my Lymphoedema specialist I asked her… she said she thought it was more likely to be to do with the Tamoxifen than the Lyphoedema… I just don’t think anyone really knows and we all seem to react differently.
Ask again if you’re worried!
