body aches

body aches Hi there !!!

I Have a question:

I have finished treatment in Jan 07 Tact2Trials arm 3 ( 4 x epi 4 x cap tablets), now on Taxmofen. I have noticed my body seems stiff. as if i need to stretch all my muscles, stiffness also in my ankles.

has anyone else had this?

thanks

stiff muscles Isn’t it hard to know what is due to Tamoxifen and what is due to sitting around doing less for the last umpteen months? I know that aches and pains and stiffness can be due to medication, but I’ve come to the conclusion that mine are just because I’m starting to get moving again after so long. May this is the case with you too?

lol i have been working through my chemo so it’s not that i have been sitting around, but i guess you are right could be the drugs or old age…lol

stiffness hello im on arimadex and find my joints all ache especially in the morning i feel about 80 somedays! got to be the drugs hasnt it. lynn xx

Hi there,
I am on Tamoxifen and i am having similar problems to you. When first getting out of bed i can hardly walk due to the pain and stiffness in my ankles. It disappears by the time i have walked downstairs but i too feel that i have to stretch my legs and toes when sitting and my ankles often ache. So be reassured, you are not on your own and i do think it is the medication.
Take care,
jenna

My ankles and knees are very stiff first thing in the morning.
I asked the oncs reg if this could be the tamoxifen, he said it could be but that arimadex was definetely a known cause.

Guess we just have to put up with it then!!

body has mind of its own Hi there

hope u all ok,

just thought i would let you know what me been up to.

On my scar under my arm i noticed week ago slight swelling on one side, then got more sore and got bigger. So went ot see my GP, who said its a ingrowing hair, gave me 7 days antibiotics and said if it doesnt clear up go to A&E and will have to have it cut out!!!

I have a friend who suffers from these abcesses, and she has now finally had her sweat glands taken out from one leg.

Thought god!!! why me, now all the treatment is over i just want to get back to normal but my body wont let me, couple of weeks ago i done my back in dont know how just could get out of bed one morning, so was off work for a week, doc said had spasms or something, got over that then my joint pains started with the taxmofen and now this.

Luckily it burst last night, all the colours of the rainbow came out of it, bit sore looks like a popped blister…, i dont think it was an ingrowing hair but an abcess ie run down…stress.

let me know if your body has also been missbehaving

Aches but no drugs Hi Everyone,

I’ve read lots of posts about these body aches which seem to affect people for long months after hospital treatment ( i.e. chemo and rads ) has finished and everyone supposes it’s the drugs tamoxifen and/or arimadex that is the cause.

But I am triple neg and not having any drugs and even though I finished rads at the end of November 06 I too have aches all over my body. I am stiff and sore. I resemble an infirm eighty year old at times especially when rising from a chair. You ought to see the state of me uncurling my spine and verbalising the pain with exclaimations of " Eeh, yough, oh, owch. " each time I get on the move.

I told the consultant at my last check up and he said it was the radiation and to give it six weeks and I’ll be fine. That was last month and I’m not aware of any improvement.

So. Yeh, we may just have to put up with it but I would like to be assured that this is not a remainder of life problem !

Me Too I am full of aches and pains, like Ali, I was grade 3, finshed rads November 06, no further ttreatment. Cant make up my mind if it’s connected with the treatment I had, or just old age creeping in :-))

Take care all

Old age? Hmm… Hi Marge,

I was hoping not to admit that this could be old age coming on ! :frowning:
Perhaps someone younger than me (51) can reassure us. Anyway, glad to hear I’m not the only sufferer with no treatment to blame.

Me to, I’m triple neg, finished treatment Jan 3rd 07 and I have bad backache…and when I try to stand up it does take a while for me to stand up straight!! I do wake up at night at times with back ache!

Aches and pains Hi guys

not glad to hear of all your aches and pains, but glad its not just me too.

I finished chemo in Feb and haven’t started the Tomoxifen yet, but I too am full of aches that I never used to have. I especially ache in my thighs and ankles, and if I have been sitting still for a while, its like raising the titanic when I try to get up! all this and I’m only 43.

OH well, lets just hope they fade with time.

Hi Guys

Me too, I finished chemo at end of Dec 2006, am taking tamoxifen (deep joy), I ache in the evenings, mainly in both legs/lower back, if I have been sitting down for a long period it takes me a little while to loosen up!! I’ve put it down to the tamoxifen. I am in training for the Race for Life so hopefully this will help - kill or cure as they say!!

HI just a thought about those body aches, it seems to me that our poor bodies have been through a lot with chemo, radiotherapy and surgery. I’ve put my aches down to all this treatment, although since taking arimidex I get pain/stiffness in my elbows (I know, really weird!). Its four months since my last treatment and today I was really in a hurry and found myself walking very fast to get somewhere. It felt so good. I can remember not even being able to get down the stairs without help when I was on chemo!

Aches and Pains I had my last chemo on 27th December 2007 followed by 15 sessions of rads ending in February. My bones feel like they don’t belong to me some days, but I thought it was just that I’d been like a couch potato for the last 7 months. Have taken up walking, now up to 3 miles. Can’t say its helped my bones much, but I feel better in myself.

Was glad to hear that others had similar symptons. Maybe like you all say, it might just be old age creeping on and will have to live with it!!
