Two weeks ago I had 2.8cm tumour removed and auxilliary clearance. 6/17 nodes positive.
The docs can also see something small but weird on my femur. It showed up on the full body bone scan, and despite having an MRI scan they still can’t work out what it is.
I’ve been booked in for a bone biopsy on my femur. Has anyone else had one? How was it? Any problems, advice etc that you can share?
Has anyone had one that came back negative for cancer?
I can’t start chemo until these scan results are back, so more waiting and worrying.
Hi Peta,
I had a rib biopsy in dec’13, to determine whether I had secondaries to my bones, which was confirmed by this. I had it done under local anaesthetic’ which was ok, a little uncomfortable but not as bad as I thought it would be!!! It was done under the guidance of the ct scanner so they could get an accurate biopsy. I hope this helps you and good luck.

Hi Peta, I had a bone biopsy on my spine in March, this was to determine a definate diagnosis of secondary breast cancer in the bone, I was really nervous as i had heard lots of horror stories about them but it was absolutely fine maybe just a little uncomfortable, it was done under local anaesthetic and guided by lots of CT scanning took about 45mins
Good luck with results and treatments
