Bone marrow tests?

I have been reading quite a few of your posts the last week , I am really impressed how you share your stories and encourage each other.

There is one thing I wonder about. I cannot seem to have found that one of you have mentioned taking bone marrow tests. I had two, one when I was just finishing rads and one six months later. I did not ask for them. I think the aim was to see if there were any micro mets in the marrow that could spread with the blood line. Mine were clear, but I know that those witn pos. bm tests got another 6 chemoes with taxoterre and then a new bm follow up after another 6 months.

Have any of you had any experience with this?

I haven’t come across this in the UK but there are tests going on ( I think there is a German study) to find out if cancer cells are found in the bone marrow of breast cancer patients are they more likely to have recurrences. If you google imaginis testing bone marrow the page is interesting. In the light of that you may want to discuss it further with your oncologist.

I’m a bit worried as I have just been to my GP’S for a bone marrow test too. I hope she doesn’t think I’ve got secondaries.
