Bone pain after radio treatment

Hello everybody, this is my first post. In 2015 I had Dx of breast cancer with bone mets. I had a wide lump excision, lymph node removal 8 chemo, 3 1/2 weeks radiotherapy, 1 year denusomab and letrozole.
I’d been having pain in my leg and had a bone scan, which showed extensive bone mets in ribs, spine, pelvis, leg etc. I had radio 10 days ago, but the pain in my leg is excruciating. I am taking 350g tramadol and max dose ibuprofen and paracetamol but it is having no effect on the pain at all. Before the radio it was uncomfortable, but nothing like this, I cannot walk. Has anyone else suffered this?

Hiya
Welcome to the forum …your bone mets sound similar to mine …I had rads on hips and I think I was told to expect pain for 14 days before it got better but before this time had to have an op for a femur pin so really don’t know.
Suggest if no better …contact oncologist again as I thought rads were supposed to help with pain factor not worsten it.!!
Please join us on bone mets threads as we have a bit of banter there as well as helpful hints …we always enjoy new postings

Hi

I too had pain after radiotherapy and was worried as the expectation is it will heal not cause pain however my Onc said you may get worse before it gets better and discomfort as bones start to repair. Magically after 3 months my pain eased.

However do suggest if pain is unbearable to contact your Onc.

hi diane, I am pleased to tell you to ask for pre gabalin. I saw a really good pain nurse and she said tramadol, paracetamol etc don’t touch spine pain because the nerves are affected.

l have extensive bone mets and every single one of my vertebrae is affected. I am to have radiation all next week. Pre gabalin took half an hour to work and I was pain free, I was dancing around the room.start on a low dose because it makes you feel very drunk if the dose is too high.

Love and hugs
