Hello everyone!
I’m really nervous and was wondering if anyone would share there thoughts on my predicament.
I was recently diagnosed with triple positive breast cancer stage 2 with it spreading to two lymph nodes. I had gotten a bone scan that was clear of metastasis which was a big relief. However, my CT scan found a 1.3 cm lytic lesion on my iliac bone suspicious of metastasis. When my oncology team called me with those results, i immediately started panicking but was told not to worry too much because my bone scan was clear but they wanted to schedulea PET scan just to be sure. I had asked if we could schedule the PET scan later that week and they said they could try but if not, it would be fine if it was scheduled to my next appointment a few weeks later. How worried should i be? I’ve been crying on and off ever since i got the ct results.
Morning. All these different scans are such a worry, but that does sound a bit confusing. Would definitely have a chat with your bcn team to help clarify it all. Have you had any surgery or treatment yet? I’m around a month post smx and have had a clear CT but waiting to see my oncologist. It’s strange how we all get different scans at different times, before or after surgery etc. Such a complex and scary path for us all. Best of luck with your care.
Good morning! I haven’t had surgery yet but i had my first round of tchp the day i got my ct scan results. I was actually in the middle of getting my chemo when they told me. I messaged them back and the called me later in the day to say that since the bone scan didn’t find the lesion, there’s a good chance it’s nothing. He said they had talked to the doctor who looked at my bone scan and he couldn’t find anything no matter how hard he looked. The PA said they would be more worried if both the bone scan and the CT scan found something or if only the bone scan found something. I don’t know im still confused. Next week is my second round of chemo and i have my PET scan the next day. Hopefully they will clarify everything then.
No wonder you are anxious and confused. I’m sure many of us have these highly sophisticated scans and still worry that they missed something! I’m a great believer in asking for explanations at all levels, the treatment path is hard enough without extra anxieties. I’m certain when all these scan results come in you will be extra reassured and will also have an opportunity to speak directly with your oncologist. Best wishes for your ongoing treatment.
