bone scan with spect

Hi
Have not visited for a good while but am feeling really scared, brief history is BC in 2006 and brca 2 positive. Been having loads of probs with spine 2 ops for disc prolapse and suffering with upper back pain as well. Cancer specialist saw me last week and I have got this bone scan with spect? nxt wk. Has asked to see me on 7th July which I thought was odd as he has always said that he would write if there were any concerns.Anyone else with this, have got osteoporosis so don’t know if that’s got anything to do with seeing me? By the way, why the spect thing!
Thanks

Spectrometer perhaps? The standard bone scan for bone mets involves gamma detection. In case this sounds as though I know what I am talking about - I don’t! I just haven’t heard spectrometer used in conjunction with a nuclear bone scan before. I would have thought with your other back problems you would have been having more structural scans - MRIs perhaps - that would have detected any cancer? This may well be to do with your osteoporosis rather than any suspicion of bone mets.
