Hey all, I recently posted re Brain Mets but after a reply suggesting bone mets in skull instead of brain mets I thought I would start this post.
I was dx 4 years ago, 28 years old, no lymph involvement, grade 3 invasive ductal carcinoma. Had 6 FEC, rads and now on Tamoxifen and Zoladex.
Over the past 2 weeks I have developed a pain in my head. Not like a head ache (although I do get them as well from being on Zoladex) but more like a very uncomfortable soreness in one particular place. Its feels like its burning and sometime tingles. Its mostly in one area and pain killers do nothing. It gets worse though out the day and come bed time is too sore to lay on that side of my head. Even washing my hair is uncomfortable.
Could this be bone mets in my skull ???
I have phoned the breast team and have an appointment on Thursday, mean while I am going insane with worry and thinking the worse,
Hi Mandy
Sorry to hear you are having a worrying time & I know how ever many times you are told not to worry it’s always in the back of your mind causing sleepless nights etc.
Sorry I can’t give you advice re skull mets but hopefully someone will come along who can. I’ve bumped the thread up anyway
There is always A & E If it’s really bothering you & you could be scanned
Sorry to hear of your worries, and glad you will be seeing the breast team next week.
I have bone mets in my skull, but to be honest have never had any symptoms, and only know of their existence from scan results. If its any comfort, my team don’t seem particularly bothered about the skull mets as the skull is not weight bearing whereas mets in the spine or hips or legs are seen as more serious.
I don’t want to repeat everything I said in your original post re skull mets, but some of the symptoms you described were very similar to the ones I had. There are different types of bone mets - one type the cancer eats away at the bone and it doesn’t regrow, and the other type it doesn’t breakdown and renew as it should so it builds up. They have complicated names I wont worry you with now. Like geewhiz my oncs never worried unduly about my skull mets, but if it is the type that builds p bone they would, because it will cause pressure.
Wishing you all the best for your appointment on thursday, and that the cause of your pain might be down to something a lot less threatening.
