Booked a place on the Younger Women Together event in Bristol?
Feedback has said it can be helpful to talk on the Forums beforehand and this thread is a chance for you to say hello and “meet” others attending the event. I will check in and if you have any questions do let me know and I will do my best to answer them.
Thanks for starting the feed.
Hi everyone, my name is Naomi and I’m 42 and was diagnosed in March with Stage 3 triple negative breast cancer. I’ve completed 6 months of chemo and had surgery last week. Looking forward to meeting everyone in Bristol.
I certainly needed soemthing like this as I am soo nervous about attending it’s just massively out of my comfort zone.
I’m Becca. I’ve just turned 29 I was diagnosed triple negative at the age of 27, funnily enough I had my very last radiotherapy appointment on the 28th of September 22 so I am very nearly a year out of treatment!
I look forward to hopefully meeting people of my age as I keep being look at like I have 2 heads when I try groups around me.
Hi Becca you’re in good company, this is way out of my comfort zone too, I’m quite shy with new people generally but have been looking for a group to go to which allows me to talk to people in similar circumstances. Look forward to meeting you soon .
I’m Claire, I’m 32 and was diagnosed with stage 3 Grade 3 HR positive breast cancer in April this year. I’ve had a simple single mastectomy and I’m due to finish the last round of chemo on October 2nd.
This is my second cancer - I had a different one at 14- and the radiotherapy to my chest at an earthly age put me at higher risk for BC. 17 years of a completely normal, healthy life in between - so have been a little bit thrown by this this year.
Have struggled to meet people of a similar age again this time round- so will be really good to get to know others who know what it feels like to have it young and the different issues here.
Hi I’m Claire, I had (will take a while to get used to saying that!) stage 3 grade 3 hormone positive IDC. I’ve had chemo and surgery, waiting to start radiotherapy soon. I turned 40 right before surgery. Well there’s always next year for a party eh?!
I live in Bristol so if anyone needs any hot tips let me know
Hi All, I’m Caroline and was diagnosed with triple positive breast cancer in Dec 22. I had chemo and radiotherapy and am now on Tamoxifen for 5 years. I will be travelling down from York on 28th. I’m going to try and book an extra night in the hotel for 28th. Is anyone else planning on arriving on 28th?
I am not going on this but I wanted to write for anyone feeling unsure about signing up. I went on one in 2008 when I was 39, having been diagnosed at 38, and I can honestly say it was an amazing experience. It was so great to be in a room with other ladies who were in the same position as me and understood in a way that those who haven’t got bc at a young age cannot.
Hospital waiting rooms were full of old people, during radiotherapy folk would think that I was there waiting for an older person rather than having treatment myself, it’s so refreshing to be among the young, and also to be full open and honest about how you’re feeling and coping, because there’s no one there who might be upset if you aren’t strong all the time.
Hi everyone, I’m Vicky, 43, I was diagnosed in March ‘22 with grade 3, ER positive (although v weak). I completed active treatment last November. Looking forward to meeting everyone xx
Hello, I’m Helen. I’m 42 and I was diagnosed with Grade 2 ER+ breast cancer at the end of July. I had a therapeutic mammoplasty and lymph node clearance 2 weeks ago. Really looking forward to meeting other younger women in the same boat. Xx
Hello
Another Helen I was diagnosed with grade 3 triple postive cancer on 22/09/22 - almost a year to the day!
Ive had 2 surgeries, chemo, finished radio in Aug. Just before I turned 40 - as Claire said the party is on hold until next year!
I have to continue with targeted therapy (injections) and have started Tamoxifen for next 5 years.
Im driving from Birmingham in the morning so hoping to make it on time
Im totally terrifed and excited at the same time, public speaking is not my thing BUT I am so looking forward to meeting you all
Hi ladies
I’m Tamzin, I was diagnosed with Grade2 ER+ BC just 10days after my 40th, at the beginning of March this year. After the lumpectomy & full lymph clearance, I was submitted for the Optima Trial & was so fortunate to have “only” had to have hormone therapy (5-10years, Tamoxifen & Zoladex injections) & I’ll be finishing my 4wks on radiotherapy next Wed.
This is hugely outside of my comfort zone, however it feels like it couldn’t be more perfectly timed. I’m looking forward to meeting everyone next week. Xx
Hi, I’m Emma and I was diagnosed with breast cancer 3 years ago. I had a mastectomy and they got all the bad stuff with good margins so I didn’t need any further treatment!
I’m hoping the train situation sorts it’s self out and the weekend goes smoothly.
