I’ve got a wee while to go before I start radiotherapy. Just had 5 of 6 chemo and surgery will be next. Just trying to get info so I can ensure I have facts when discussing with consultant though. I have noticed that some of you have had/having an extra 5 booster sessions of rads. Is this something that’s offered based on your overall treatment regimes or do you have to push for it yourself. Does it make a significant difference? Thanks lovely ladies x
Hi DiKat I was given 5 boosts after my initial 15 sessions of radiotherapy I think this was due to the fact that I had grade 3 tumour oestrogen positive 8/8 and oncotype score of 22 I was given the option of chemotherapy and radiotherapy but I declined chemo so I was told that they would give me the 5 boost sessions. I rather think they gave me the 5 targeted sessions because I didn’t have chemo. I had no skin problems at all from the 15 sessions but were I had the targeted rads I had considerable soreness and itching two weeks after finishing so I wouldn’t recommend asking if you don’t need it , I am pretty sure it does depend on your overall treatment plan whether they advise it or not. Best wishes to you and good luck with rads. Fezzy52
