Hi ladies,
Just a quick question, have just had FEC 4 and am having booster injections as my wbc was 0.4 after 3rd FEC.
I have just done my first injection only 7 more days to go,i must admit i was dreading it , doing it myself but i thought i would give it ago as it seemed a shame to have the district nurse come out to do it, i only gave it a try as i had seen other people had.
I was dreading it, my OH said he would do it if i couldn’t,but i thought, just go for it,ha ha.
Have many of you experienced many side effects from the boosters, mine begins with Ratio something or other?
Thanks for any input, have to go am having a megga hot sweat, i was freezing a min ago, happens to me each cycle,

Hi Sandrae
I am having the Granocyte injections for the wbc, mine are for 10 days after each chemo, although my onc tells me next time l will have the one for one day only, they have been trying to get it for a while, and whoever say ‘yes’ has now said yes! l haven’t minded doing them, but the one day one will be good, have enough rubbish to put up with, without injecting myself for 10 days!!
Take care
Sandra xxx
PS. Sorry l meant to say, l also had lower back pain, when l mentioned it to the onc, he said that would be the injections, l was on my 2nd FEC at this time.
Hi, I had the injections and also did them myself but I can’t remember if it was for 3 days or it was 1 injection on day 3,it was over 2 years ago now and I have trouble remembering what happened last week lol.I started the injections after second TAX,I think my bone pain was down to the TAX more than the injection as I had horrendous bone pain after first TAX.
Best wishes Melxx
I did the injections myself - the first one I shot most of it up the wall so wished I’d practised on an orange first. The main side effect I had from them was the bone pain which was horrendous sometimes but I took comfort in the fact this meant it was working! Di x
Hi, I am going to have my last (6th) Chemo on Wednesday!! Yes the flags are out already… however, since the 2nd Chemo I have been on Ratiograstin, 5 daily injections starting 5 days post chemo. The pain in my legs has been geting progressively worse and I am now walking with a stick and feeling 100! I know I need the injections for my WBC as I dont want to end up in hospital again, but can anyone tell me how long after the treatment this pain will last?? Thanks
i have five injectins each cycle, used to have 7 but reduced it down. Yes i do get backpain from them but bearable. Obviously these are to keep your white bloodcount up for next chem does anyone know if I will have to have them next time - as its my last chemo and I won’t have another one to keep my bloods up for? It will be one less thing to have!
I had to have the injections after my blood count plummeted right from the first chemo. (down to 0.5). I had injections after my second and third. Not only was I in agony, but I hated even more invasive treatment.
After my 4th chemo I refused the injections and ate a super-strict anti-cancer liver-loving diet and my count went up to 5.4! The oncologist could not believe it. I have posted about this already and was told that I should not put my opinions onto others…(!) My last three chemos my count was over 5 and most importantly I could actually get out of bed.
Added to the fact it is empowering, makes you feel better, helps with the chemo se etc etc. Diet (and exercise) is is an alternative to drugs for managing the side effects. I used the Chris Woollam’s cancer active books
I have posted about this already and was told that I should not put my opinions onto others. Now you know that isn’t true.Lets not go there again
Thanks ladies,
I am having the injections for 7 days, i hope all you other ladies who are having them are doing ok, i have not long ago done my 3rd one which was fine, seemed worse than it actually was, i am waiting for the crappy side effects, hopefully there won’t be any, yeah right! wishful thinking anyway, had a rubbish few days this cycle,i’m on day 6 after 4th FEC and feel a bit more cr*py than the last time, felt shattered until this afternoon, had really bad PooPs!!! all day, ha ha. has stopped now, thank goodness.
Anyway, enough of that, thanks again to all who replied, hope everyone is feeling as well as is possible.
Take care Sandrae x
saw my onc today and I do have to have the injections even though this will be my last chemo. Its not just for the chemo that the count has to be kept up… its to stop us getting infections so it is important that the last chemo is followed by the injections. Ah well… at least this is the last cycle.
