Bra after masectomy

I have just recently had a masectomy with immediate reconstruction.  On the advice of my surgeon I bought a front fastening bra which does give good support but I am not sure how tight this should feel.

the cup size on my normal breast fits well, and the reconstruction side will fit eventually.

Does anyone know how tight the bra should feel across the body and shoulders?

It’s a tricky one Marshied because you need it to be supportive but forgiving as you will have some fluid and swelling for a while.  I used the M&S post surgery bra which was excellent although I did feel I needed a rest from it by the end if the day.  For a more gentle support I purchased a couple of bras from Amazon which are actually nursing bras but worked a treat:

Hi ,

If you book in to M&S for a bra fit, most of the bra fitters are trained in advising and fitting for post surgery customers. I was trained to fit too when I worked there. You should feel comfortable not too tight and definitely no seams pressing on wounds etc. You may also find that you will have to go back and buy new ones after a couple of months. It’s the same as for maternity bras you will change size over a period of time. I highly recommend M&S, my staff were always really lovely. Xxxx
