After some advice please ladies. I’m having my left sided mastectomy with temp reconstruction on Thursday. Yesterday I brought a post surgery bra from M and S , my BC nurse just said no wires, other people are telling me sports bras. So the ultimate question is what type of bras were everyone wearing post surgery and how long before Ican wear my nice underwire Lacey numbers again.

Hi
I’m also having mx with reconstruction. There’s a very nice shop called Nicola Jane that sells mastectomy bras and swimwear etc. I was told to buy front fastening cotton bra from there called “Hilary”, which I have now. Quite matronly but comfy and at least everyone including me can undo it from the front. Apparently they put the bra on in recovery before I wake up and you have to wear it 24/7. Seems odd that I must wear a bra all the time on a flat chest (I’m having expander implant) but perhaps it’s to stop the healthy one flopping around and pulling on the wound. NJ also has some very pretty bras for later if you need pockets in cups.
I also had a bra dilemma, but I was delighted to find inexpensive and supportive bras in Tesco! They aren’t lacy pretty jobs, but they’re not terribly ugly and they’re about one-third what the M&S post-surgery bras cost. Sadly I couldn’t find front-fastening ones but unless you are bigger than an F cup (I’m a G) there are also some soft cotton sports bras which are kind to skin when you have to wear them in bed.
Hope all goes well on Thursday

Hi. I am in a similar situation. My surgery is due to take place in three weeks. I would really appreciate some advice and opinions on which type of bra would be best. X
Hi
Try Nicola Jane they are mostly an online company that specialise in mastectomy bras, they also have a few shops around the country, I got some really comfortable front fastening ones when I had my surgery last year
Good Luck

I’m 5 weeks post mx now.initially I brought Asda soft and comfy bras and they were ok but as sensations came back they became really uncomfortable. I invested in some marks and Spencer’s ones last week with the advice of a memeber of staff who was very helpful and they are so much better .
Good luck x
Bought a lovely soft and pretty pink post surgery bra from M&S this week ahead of surgery onTuesday, Sadly not front opening - but you do get 20% off if you fill in the VAT free ticket - so definately worth a look

Sending best wishes. I am 10 days post op, I have Asda soft post op for night time, I like that it has cross back so less shoulder stress. I have taken underwire out of my usual bras ( one at a time as I need them) as I know they are already comfy for me. I also was measured for v supportive bra like a tank. Camisoles are good too if breasts not too big.
I have done on line browsing and shopping post op, most stores don’t do full range of sizes.
