I am 3 weeks post op following wide excision and and sentinel node biopsy. Up until now I have gone braless as my usual ones, although fairly soft and not underwired, are very uncomfortable and rest on my scars.
I am becoming very self conscious about my sagging boobs, I a 36F, and clothes look awful. I’ve tried various crop tops but they are not comfortable.
Can anyone suggest a suitable bra. My breast scar is the complete length of the outer arm side of my right breast.
When I was first diagnosed I rushed into M&S in a tailspin and bought all sorts of different bras. The lovely assistant introduced me to their flexifit range and I bought a few of the non-wired colours and then an underwired version. I wasn’t previously an M&S bra shopper (being on the larger size I tended to go to Bravissimo) however I’m now a big fan of these bras for day to day comfort
Hi Holly52
I wish you well on your pathway, I also purchased the Flexifit post surgery bras in September this year, from Marks and Spencer, the ones I have are a hook and eye opening on the front and are very soft but also seamless, which means they are extremely comfortable. The hook and eyes mean it’s easy to put on and off, especially in the early days following surgery.
As already mentioned on here, I too am most impressed and will probably continue to wear the bras at home going forward.
I can imagine that being fuller breasted crop tops probably won’t give you enough support , I’m a D cup and I only got enough support from a crop top if I wore a support vest as well or a second crop top over the first one.
I’m also a massive fan of the M+S post-surgery range - being a 42 it’s not easy to find the right back width so I did buy from M+S anyway . I like both the non- wired and non wired cami bras but the body soft kind with the hook and eye fastening are the most comfortable supportive bras I’ve ever had - not pretty though. There’s good side coverage so hopefully these would cover your wound and not dig in partway. I liked that when walking / standing I had every hook fastened but when sitting I could undo a few at the top or bottom for comfort. You might need to put a small pad from a crop top in to make the material lie flat and possibly go up a cup size in this particular style though I would say that the other styles fit true to size.
The lace one didn’t quite fit and I ended up giving it to a friend - she hasn’t had breast surgery but really likes it.
If you can try a couple of different styles hopefully you will find one that you like.
I’ve also found that some of their ordinary non- wired bras are fine for me.
If you order online they automatically deduct the VAT but when I bought in-store I had to sign to say that I needed a post- surgery product to get the same discount.
Hi. I had mastectomy nearly 8 weeks ago. I got in a panic about bras beforehand. The most comfortable one I bought was a front zippy one from sainsburys for £10. My ususal size is 36c and I bought large. It has a wide soft underband so it doesn’t irritate as much as another I paid a lot more for. I had to unpick a few stitches in the pocket so I could fit my softie in through the slot.

I never used to wear a bra, having fybro it was painful to wear one,but I needed one after same operation.I managed to find a really good Bra company who specialise in post surgery. mascectomy etc bras, they are so lovely to wear fit very well, the site has lots of advice to make sure you buy right one and they are pretty bras. Royce -Lingerie .co.uk. take a look the prices are very reasonable too.
Im a 40FF and the staff were extremely helpful prior to surgery and helped me with various fittings and choices including a very comfortable front fastening sports bra
Since then I’ve purchased some soft bras from Lemonade which are awesome
Asda had some byt they didn’t support me enough so I ended up with the 4 boob look so i gave those to my sister
You can use the search boxes to see older comments on bras if you want further ideas or help
Just another place you might not have thought of is John Lewis, the team in the lingerie department in Nottingham in particular are compassionate and caring and I’m sure the other John Lewis stores have equally good teams Shi xx
Thank you so much ladies. I hot-footed it to M&S today and had a look at their flexifit bras. Unfortunately they didn’t have any in my size. I’ve ordered a couple online to try.
I bought my brass from SIMPLYBE . They are lovely and soft. Front opening and NO UNDERWIRE. I was told to just buy some cheap ones as you will probably go back to normal bras when all is healed. But no I’m sticking to my SIMPLEBE . I do hope this helps in some way.
Because of where my scars were - (across armpit and round nipple) I couldn’t wear a ‘normal’ bra for months . The underarm scar sat just on the top seam of a bra and the nipple scar meant no cups with seams in.
Fortunately I had some crop tops from Sainsbury’s and M & S which covered the underarm scar and obviously had no seams on the boob.
I get mine from Nicola Jane & I’m a E cup they were so lovely & can do a virtual fitting which might be helpful to find what would work for you Got a couple of super comfy t shirt bras & I’ve also got some from Royce too. Tried the Bravissimo lace post surgery too , loved it but hated the red colour ( shame ) . Good luck , keep trying on lots till you find the right one for you xx
