Bra recommendations for breast lymphedma

I have been given compression garments for my breast lymphodema, but would like to find a comfortable sports bra and or a bra to wear under a dress for going out, any recommendations of where I can find anything useful, I have tried M &S. thanks

Hi

I’ve been given soliden silver wave skin micro messaging bra by my lymphodemia team. Ive been using them for a year now and have to admit at first I didn’t think I would get on with them but I find them very confortable. I wear them all day long even in the gym. Unfortunately they do restrict the neck line you wear and difficult to get on as they go over your head no fasteners. I have seen them on line and know they are quite pricey but well work it as I no longer have to perform daily massages. Hope this helps.

Hello @willbe,

Thanks for posting

It’s understandable that you would like to find a comfortable bra for going out, as an alternative to the compression garments you have been given to help manage your breast lymphoedema

While we are unable to make specific recommendations, it may be helpful to have a look at our list of suppliers. You may want to contact some of the suppliers to find out what they can offer and to find out where you can have a fitting.

You may also want to explore further the information that @Mary_1 has posted about a bra that she has found comfortable.

The Lymphoedema Support Network may be able to make further suggestions that would be of interest.

Talking to someone who has had a similar experience may be helpful. Our Someone Like Me service can match you with a trained volunteer who’s had a similar experience to you. You can be in touch with your volunteer by phone or email and they can share their personal experiences to help answer your questions, offer support and listen to how you are feeling.

You can complete a registration form, ring the Someone Like Me team on 0800 448 0822 or email them at someone.likeme@breastcancernow.org, so they can match you to your volunteer.

Do call our helpline if you would like to talk this through or have any further questions. The helpline team have time to listen, talk things through and signpost you to additional support and information if necessary. Your call will be confidential, and the number is free from UK landlines and all mobile networks.

Our number is 0808 800 6000. If you have hearing or speech difficulties dial 18001 followed by our number and the call will go through Relay UK. Our helpline has access to telephone interpreters if language translation is required.
