bras after second mastectomy?

Didn’t think I’d find myself back here, had rt mastectomy after DCIS diagnosis in 2005, now have Paget’s disease in left. (Trust me to pick the rare one…)

So I have plenty of bras, but without the left breast to anchor them, will they ride up? Could always go bra-less I suppose, haven’t done that since teenager in the late 60s…

Any advice ladies? And anyone else out there with Paget’s?

Hi @silversueback

Thanks for your question. We’re sorry you haven’t had a reply yet and we hope that someone will come along soon. In the meantime, you may find it helpful to ask about this on our Ask Our Nurses section of the Forum which you can findhere. You may also find our Someone Like Me service useful. The Someone Like Me phone service can put you in touch with a volunteer who can support you by telephone. You’ll speak to someone who’s had a similar experience to you, who has finished their treatment and has been trained to help.

If you would like to talk about any concerns or worries you have about this or anything else, our clinical experts are only at the end of the phone on our free helpline 0808 800 6000. It is open 9am-4pm weekdays and 9am-1pm Saturdays.

Take care,

Hi there,

I can give you lots of advice, either on here or through facebook messenger or text.

My shop is called All Season with Carrol, we are in Middleton Shopping Centre, Top Floor, Manchester.  We also post out.

Feel free to have a look on my facebook page All Season with Carrol.

I specialise in Matectomy bras and products and don’t believe in overcharging for the bras.  My best selling 2 pocket bra is 22 pound. comes in a variety of colours and sizes.

I give away free knitted knockers, also various sizes and can access free Heart shaped cushions to provide comfort under your arms.

Cheers

Hi silversueback

Sorry, have only just read your post.

How are you going on following your nasty news and treatment?

Plus on the bra front?

Yeh, I found some bras did tend to ride up a bit, but found the ones with an elasticated underband were far better than wired ones, so never bothered with those. Plus they’re more difficult to fit your prostheses in. Also found pocketed bras better than un - no risk of a false boob accidentally falling out, probably in your soup! :smileylol: It’s certainly easier to match things up without two - which is one good point I guess.

Hope you’re well xxxx
