I’m Sam, 27, from the Telford area and would like to meet anyone with the brca gene in the surrounding area.
I found I had inherited the brca1 gene from my paternal side in 2011 and would be nice to meet someone locally in the same boat as I am.

Hi Sam,
I’m 42 and from Bridgnorth. I had BC in 2011 and had genetic test as my Mum and 9 other female relatives all had BC at young ages (Mum was 29 when she had it first though she is still here and celebrating her 70th birthday in a few weeks!) Our BRCA results showed a “variant of unknown significance” but they said it must be a fault on the gene to have caused so many breast cancers (and all the women in the family have the same “varaiant”) I have had double mastectomy since having cancer as I feel it reduces my chance of getting it again, and have also had a hysterectomy/oopeherectomy. No regrets at all and feeling good again now. Would be happy to chat on here or meet for coffee if you like

You have a much bigger family history than I do.I do not have BC but my aunt was found to carry the gene after being diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2008, unfortunatly she passed away last december aged 54, too young in my eyes. Since then a cousin, 23, has been diagnosed with BC but at the time I am the only female known to have inherited the gene.
I have been on the waiting list for a double mastectomy for nearly 2 years now at Princess Royal in Telford, I was due to have surgery in April but this was cancelled due to not theatre time being taken. I am in two minds whether to try getting referred elsewhere as I feel like a ticking timebomb.
I have planned to have hysterectomy in my mid 30’s, as advised by my gynocologist.
Glad you have no regrets, I can’t wait to get them off my chest and have a weight lifted.
