Hello,
I’m brca1 positive, had a preventative double mastectomy & reconstruction 18 months ago, and am now considering having an oophorectomy. I had breast cancer 16 years ago & as it was triple negative my consultant has given me the green light for hrt.
My question is, has anyone had an oophorectomy and taken hrt afterwards, & if so, what has been your experience? I’m terrified of having menopausal symptoms (I’m in my mid 40s so were it not for this, I could probably keep the menopause at bay a few more years), like weight gain, hot flushes/sleepless nights, looking ancient, vaginal dryness etc. etc. Have people found that the HRT prevents these, or not?
Would love to hear from anyone who’s been through this.
Thanks for reading.
