Hi, I was diagnosed with breast cancer 2 years ago and had a lumpectomy followed by chemo and radiotherapy. For the last couple of months I have been suffering with pain in the breast bone on the side of the cancer. Starting to get worried. does anybody have any idea what this might be.
If you have been experiencing this pain for a couple of months it is probably time you told your oncologist! If you haven’t got an appointment coming up soon I think you should give them a call and tell them you need to see someone sooner. I don’t think anyone here can tell you what it might be. Don’t be fobbed of with anyone saying it could be just effects of the radiotherapy as it goes on for a long time! You need scans to be sure nothing is going on. I do hope that it is just that - nothing going on, but you do need to be sure. Do come back and tell us how you get on.
Hi Linda
I am in an identical situation to you, it’s almost two years since my diagnosis and have had the same treatment as you. I also have had pain in my collarbone for months now and more recently in my ribs. I had mentioned it at my follow up six months ago but the registrar barely looked up and said something about rads damage. I wasn’t reassured so saw my gp who sent me for x-rays. They came back normal but to be honest I am still not convinced and am going to discuss it with my oncologist on Wednesday. As Dawn says you should try and get an appointment, if only to give you peace of mind.
Had appointment with breast surgeon yesterday. nearly shot through the roof when she examined me so is sending me for a bone dexa and bone denisty scan to see whats going on - appointments can’t come quick enough.
