Breast calcification

I was about to have a lumpectomy and axilla clearance on my left breast when a last minute mammogram on my right breast showed calcification and my planned op didn’t go ahead. I have read up about it and it’s apparently common and usually benign. I don’t understand why that should stop my planned operation as my tumour is Grade 3 HER2 positive and is already in the lymph nodes. I was very disappointed the surgery was cancelled.

Does anyone have insight into this?

Hello and welcome.  Sorry to hear that you are in this position currently.

Did you breast team explain to you why they were cancelled your operation, is it because they now need to check these calcifications out as it might mean that your treatment plan will need to be changed?
