Hello to everyone who has already entered breast cancer world

October is breast cancer awareness month and seemingly everywhere you look you get reminded of what you already know.

It can be very triggering for those of us who already know the reality of breast cancer and whilst the campaigns and intentions may be well meaning we know that it isn’t necessarily felt by us.

Please remember that the forums are a safe place to vent frustrations on this and any other topic, and to seek reassurance that you are not alone if you are feeling “pinked out”

Thanks for this - it’s coming up to the time of year that I was diagnosed as well so I will try to be more mindful for myself. I love " pinked out " - great description. Xx

My daughter recently died. It’s only October 2nd and I’m done with the campaign. :cry:

Twelve years ago now I answered a knock at my front door - it was a fundraiser for a cancer charity , a young girl very peppy and gushing about the reduction in mortality from cancer in children. No doubting that’s a great thing but if she had read the cues she would have seen that I wasn’t feeling it as one of my friends had just died of metastatic cancer of unknown origin . A few weeks before that we had lost a former colleague from prostate cancer . I shut the door in her face before she had finished her spiel .

If I see the advert with Lorraine Kelly grinning like a fool holding Chelsea buns in front of her boobs one more time I’m going to scream. I know it’s an important campaign, I know it probably helps to engage people and if it saves one life then it’s worth it ect I know, I know, I know. BUT the reality of BC is not funny an all these grinning pink idiots are (ironically) getting on my tits. Rant over.
