Good luck today Sabhope…let us knowxx
Moijan
Thank you Moijan
You are miles more experienced in this world new to me and I really appreciate to hear your calm and kind approach. I certainly don’t want to beat myself up with unpleasant diets on top of everything else and you reminded me of that.

Hi Sabhope, you already sound very wise…you will make the right choices im sure! I did go off dairy ( far too strictly…drove everyone mad ) and actually I quite like Soya,( someone recc Soya milk when I had rads and I had no burns at all) but for me a varied diet…as rainbowy as I can, is what im aiming for. I agree tho about not beating onself. Up …
have just has three chocolates…not like me, but they were there…! Just returned from a speed awareness course…felt I needed spoilingxx
do let us know how you both get on, I will be nipping in to see how your treatment goesxxxx
Moijanxx
Dear Sonia
How was your appointment today? So hope you had some good news…
Glad you has that chocolate Moijan, I really miss coffee and inch towards my lovely coffeemaker every day…

Hi Sabine,
Thanks for your message.
Unfortunately they were unable to clear the margins & I now have to have a mastectomy!! I just wish thy had done this in the first place. Actually you are a good person to ask, how was your mastectomy? Are you recovering well & did they give you an implant? I will be having an implant during the surgery. Do you know your next course of treatment? S xx
Oh Sonia
So sorry to hear this! What a nuisance and to go through another op. I can only say that I am recovering really well. Have not needed any painkillers since I came home from hospital and only had to stay one night in hospital. I even was able to go home without any wound draining equipment. In my case they also did a clearance of about 15 lymphnodes. This is more tricky to heal from as my underarm area is totally numb and it will take me time to have my arm movement back. Getting dressed and undressed is tricky at the mo.
I could not have a reconstruction as my treatment plan is not clear. I was told that in case I need chemo it would be better to have the recon afterwards. To be honest I am not yet sure I want another op to have a recon. May be I just have to heal first go through treatment and see how I feel then. I have to admit that when i came from hospital i put on a loose and comfy t shirt bra with cups and i have not yet dared to look underneath and i dread the day the plasters come off. My consultant said I could come back for a recon at any time also in 5 years or so.
I always need a few days to adjust when I get another lot of bad news and feel I have gone from bad to worse with my appointments. So I think of you and hope you are recovering from today’s shock
Sending you lots of strength
Sabine xx
Hi Sabine,
Thank you for your thoughts & info regarding your surgery,
Pleased to hear that you healing well. I can understand you not wanting to have another operation for the forseable future & there is so much you can do now with the prosthesis that are available. I understand that having an implant takes a long time to settle & often you have to have adjustments made so that both breasts match. It is hard to continually be given bad news, I absolutely dread my appointments & am almost physically sick waiting to be seen! I wish you a speedy recovery
lots of love. Sonia x
Hi Moijan,
Thanks for your msg
The surgery is booked for 7pm tonight so I am currently at work trying to be as normal as possible & much prefer to be @ work that sitting worrying @ home. Did you have an implant? Thank you for your thoughts. How are you doing now? S x
Hi Sonia. Good luck tonight. I have sent you a direct message not sure if it’s gone through I might of done it wrong. rebecca xx
Hi again Sonya, Sabhope’ And Rebecca,
just wondered how you got on with Jane Plants book?
i think there is a lot of sense in her book and she has really done her homework well…she looked at the incidence of breast cancer in China and Hong Kong, as well as in the west. As far as I know her point made was about hormones and breast cancer wasnt it? i dont recall anything about antibiotics etc.
I am eating dairy again, as I said, but I am of sympathy with the opinion that cows milk is really produced for baby cows and that it may well have hormones in it, so if your bc happens to be er+ then possibly avoiding dairy could be helpful
I think that it is important to do your own thing…If you want to avoid dairy, then thats your choice and I feel we should all respect one another’s opinions.
Moijan???
Hi Moijan,
Thanks for your msg. The Jane Plant book is very well researched as you said. My BC is hormone receptive & the interesting thing (I also noticed this when I tried to give it up years ago) is that since giving it up, you don’t get sore tender breasts before having a period so I truly believe that says something about the hormonal effect milk may have. I breastfed my 2 daughters & just from breast milk they became so round & chubby, like little Buddha’s! My mother in law kept telling me I was feeding them too much. I am quite happy avoiding dairy (and soya as much as I can) because I don’t see the harm in doing so & it makes me feel good that maybe I am doing some positive in preventing this coming back. Off to make an oat milk coffee!! S xx
Hi Sonia,
yes. Have just remembered that when i had my rads, i had gone off dairy and onto soya…i got NO. Burns, s/e, with rads, whereas some of the other ladies did! We compared and they were mostly drinking milk. Anyway, you do your own thing…this forum is a good place to try and gain and give support to one another, respecting differences and opinions. Love and hugs
Moijanxx???
Hi KIttie
i was reading your earlier posts about the man who stresses you out! I do believe relationships can make a difference…I have one who stresses me out…I met a fellow patient a few weeks back…who had told her husband to leave! Dont want to disillusion poor Rebecca, Sonia and Sabine here by elaborating too much, in case they still wear. ‘rose tinted specs’. but I actually now believe men think totally differently from women!
perhaps there should be a thread titled. ’ Breast Cancer and D*c*he*d link’ lol X
Moijanxx???
hi sabine,
tamoxifen is one of the most well researched drugs out there with a tried & tested track record. My experience has been fine over the past 6 months, without any problems. Many women are fine on it or at least find any side effects manageable. Understandably, problems do get reported but, how one reacts is individual to all of us.
As Moijan says, ask your team loads of questions so you are comfortable with your decisions.

Blueash, that is hilarious!!! Underwear & sandwich, how true is that!!! S xx
Blueash,
Sorry -was sure it was you…but from your reply you seem pretty clued in!
have read back and it was Kittie who posted about men, so have redone the post…was so pleased to discover your amazing sense of humour thoxx
my apologies,
Moijanx???
I am now becoming increasingly convinced my bc caused by dairy as I ate a lot of it and mine is oestrogen feeding, cows milk must be full of oestrogen. Wish I’d cut back on dairy now.
Hi Rebecca,
its so easy to blame ourselves…I was on the hi dose pill for years and on hrt later…tend to think it was that…its a bit like going through a bereavement…the brain tries to fiind reasons for self blame…
now tho…is a chance to make a change…if you really feel that, have a gut feeling, then go for dairy free, …could make you feel more in control…good luck with your choicesxx
Moijan???
hi rebecca,
please dont blame yourself, I think we all go back & think should I gave done things differently, but it could have happened anyway & we’ll never know. bc can affect anyone irrespective of lifestyle choices.
