i can’t seem to find much out there on foods to support breast cancer sufferers? Apart from a balanced diet, I hear green leafy veg, nuts, lentils and berries r good but is there anything else anyone can recommend to avoid or include into the diet to help BC sufferers recover and avoid the BC recovering?!
I took arnaca tablets 3 days before the op and continued for 7 days, to help with healing wounds from surgery. I checked with Breast care nurse first and was told ok. but if wounds are still healing could be helpful if you’ve not done a 7 days course.
One of my wounds got infected so had to take Anti biotics, which really upset my bowel, so I took Bio Kult probiotics (must be taken with cold food or drink, best read instructions) Bio Kult works really well for me, initially 2 am and 2 pm and then 1 a day till feel all ok again.
The key is fresh fruit and vegetables, some fats, cheeses, yoghurt etc. protein very important for wound healing.
I actually try to follow the diabetic diet plate although I don’t always succeed. Its based on half plate veg, fruit, quarter proteins, all, dairy, meat fish eggs etc. and qtr carbs bread, rice, pasta, (brown) The mediterranean diet is a good one and eating rainbow colours. Also drinking plenty of water.

I was actually doing all this before my diagnosis but so important to keep on track with healthy foods intake.
I also like to take fresh root ginger with food or the occasional smoothie to include root ginger, greens and half banana, mandarin, or apple with coconut milk
Hi Ppat, there are some posts about diet on the treatment threads. This always provokes a lot of discussion as it is all very personal. I have changed my diet since I was diagnosed, feeling that I’ve got to help myself. There is an interactive web site which offers great advice on foods for those on aromatise inhibitors. Kale, spinach, Brazil nuts, matcha green tea, sprouting seeds, berries…the list goes on. Two books which I have found extremely helpful are The Royal Marsden Cook book, and the Maggies Cook book. There is a fount of knowledge contained in both books. As well as loads of recipes for before, during and after treatments. My Onco suggested a varied, rain bow diet, which is what these books offer. Good luck for a healthy recovery. X
