Breast cancer in men - Richard and Stuart

Richard and Stuart, both men living with breast cancer, share their experiences of diagnosis, treatment and the challenges of being diagnosed with a disease mostly associated with women.

Richard was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015, and Stuart was diagnosed in 2005 and now lives with secondary breast cancer.

They are both involved with the Men’s VMU, an online group aimed at supporting men with a breast cancer diagnosis, promoting research into breast cancer in men, and raising awareness of the signs and symptoms.

Only around 400 men are diagnosed with breast cancer in the UK each year.

Richard and Stuart talk about how their diagnoses took them by surprise, and share their work in the Men’s VMU trying to get the message to as many people as possible.

so glad to see this post !! i think it is so important, to also think of all the men out there, who are living with this monster ! and how much more difficult it may is for them. as a man you have so many stigmas attached… men never( shouldnt) cry, men are tough, men dont show emotions aso… we all know those stigmas. personally i always think of them in total reverse. so men who ARE crying, showing fear, are emotional aso ARE so very strong, because they do react against the grain and all those stigmas put on them and that cant be easy for them !
i think it is also so positive AND important to get more awareness of men with cancer out there… also when well knowen men are raising awareness or sharing their experiances. whatever it is… any awarenes for men is a great step forward !
stay brave… get brave… so many men (and women) will thank you for that
