Hello from across the pond. I am sorry to hear you are going through this again. You mentioned lumpectomy and radiation the first go around but no hormone treatment (tamoxifen or AI’s). Was your first cancer hormone receptive?

I too have a recurrence in the same breast as before. I had IDC+± in 2011 and went through a lumpectomy, chemo and rads at 46 years old. Well here it is 13 years later and it’s back. I still don’t know if it is a local, regional or distant recurrence. I have had all the tests to check for distant. Blood tests, tumor makers, MRI, bone scan, CT scan and finally PET scan. PET turned up something that needs looking into so I have been waiting 3 weeks for a biopsy of whatever it is. My mass was discovered in June of this year and the only treatment so far is Arimidex (Anastrozole). Walking around with cancer is a pretty odd feeling, but oncologist is determined to make sure nothing metastasized because if it has then there isn’t any surgery forthcoming.

Thank you for your kind and understanding reply. I think last time I was in so much shock once treatment was over I put to back of my mind.
Looking back at my records, it was residual DCIS, intermediate to high nuclear grade, treatment was lumpectomy, 15 rads and 5 year Tamoxifen .
I return to hospital today to get full report. Thankyou again for replying.

Thankyou for your understanding reply. I am saddened to learn that you are going through such tests after 13 years and I know your anxiety will be off the scale, you must feel you are never away from medical investigations. I wish you well and hope you get a treatment plan soon.
