Breast casting - DIY mail order kits and professional casting

Hi everyone, I’m CJ from Rockabelly Lifecasts in Kent. I’ve been given special permission by admin to post on here to let people know about my services which some of you might find comforting, especially when facing a mastectomy operation (or the future prospect of it). I was first recommended to come to this forum by some of my recent clients who found the experience itself as well as the resulting artwork really comforting and empowering at an otherwise very difficult time.

I’m a lifecaster with 27 years experience and (amongst many other body parts) have cast the breasts/chests of a huge number of people facing such operations, and even done a few post-operative casts as well for people coming to terms with their new shape.

People get their breasts cast for all kinds of reasons - some as a way of celebrating them, some as a way of coping with the emotions of losing them, some as surgical reference for reconstruction if they are choosing to delay reconstruction to a later date, and some have even had ‘goodbye boobs’ parties with close friends and relatives to try and take back control in a moment when a lot of decisions are things they must do rather than something they want to do. What is particularly lovely for me is being told that the appointment itself has been a welcome morning or afternoon of fun and empowerment at a time when my clients have had a lot of tough things going on. Something positive just for them.

For those of you who cannot travel all the way to Kent to be cast, I do offer a [DIY casting kits for breasts] (Rockabelly Lifecasts - casting services and kits — Brilliant Boobs Casting Kit) but must make it clear this is a simple, beginner-friendly kit that is for low-definition casting only. That means that it captures the shape of the breasts but not the detail of skin texture etc. These are suitable for anyone to cast with the help of a partner or friend, even if they aren’t particularly artistic. It comes with really clear, thorough instructions and drawings to show you how to do it, and how to dry, smooth, decorate, hang and look after your cast. Even though it is a simple casting method, you can have a lot of fun with it, and leave decorating it until after your operation at a later date (so it doesn’t all need doing at once).

For those wanting something more detailed and accurate, a professional casting session is the way to go. My appointments usually run at 11am or 2:30pm Monday to Saturday, but I know how busy things get in the run up to an operation, so if you email me at cj@rockabelly.co.uk I will always move things around to make sure I can fit you in, even if it means working way outside my normal hours. I know how short notice can be for these things, and will do whatever I can to make it happen for you if you want a casting.

As well as plain plaster casts, I do all kinds of decorative finishes, from elaborate and delicately hand-painted casts to cold cast metals, real drizzled pewter or even foundry cast bronze. But many people choose to leave theirs plain white or decorate them themselves which can be comforting in itself. I do allow staggered payments for those that need to break things up a bit, as I understand how hard it can be with needing time off work to recover.

I’m always a bit uncomfortable marketing or touting my services in case it makes anyone feel pressured or like a hard-sell, but as so many of my clients had expressed how hard it was to find someone, or even that they only just heard it was a ‘thing’ right at the last minute, they suggested I get in touch with Breast Cancer Now so I could let more people know.

If you’d like to see the galleries of some of my previous breast casts then this is the link:-

with a price guide for the most popular poses here:-

and I have another section specifically with information for pre-mastectomy clients:-

There are a few testimonials on the website but if you prefer something more independently gathered then I have been the top-rated Bodycaster in the UK for many years on independent business review site FreeIndex.co.uk where you can read a huge number of verified customer reviews. I say these things not to show off, but to reassure anyone who is nervous, self-conscious or understandably concerned about an unknown process and would like the reassurance of reading other experiences first.

If you have any questions at all about my low-definition breast casting kits, my high definition nipple casting kits (oh yes, I forgot to mention those too!) or a personal high definition casting of your body, then please don’t hesitate to ask either on this thread or you can email me on the previously mentioned address or my phone number is plastered all over the website linked above. I’m always happy to help or advise, even if you’ve already made a cast but just want some decorating tips or if you are on the fence and want some direct answers with no hard-sell. It’s just one aspect of my job, but it’s something that’s always an honour to do and if I can help bring a smile at an otherwise very difficult time then that means the world to me.

I haven’t posted pictures here, but there are a great many in my galleries (which I do need to update, but there’s plenty to look at if you are just curious). Please feel free to post my details to anyone you think might be helped by knowing the service exists, and if I’ve missed anything obvious, don’t hesitate to ask.

I wish I’d known about you before my double mastectomy as I would have loved a cast of my boobs before losing them. They were the only part of me that had stayed in good condition and were still perky. If I had known about you I would most definitely got you to cast them - my husband suggested we find someone who could make a jelly mould from a cast!
It’s too late for me now but I love what you are doing.

I visited CJ at Rockabelly for a cast before my double mastectomy. My pre-surgery chemo had worked really well, but I was found to be a BRCA1 gene carrier so the chance of it returning was really high. I was devastated as I really liked my old boobs and it was my counsellor who suggested a plaster cast as a way to honour them. This hadn’t even crossed my mind but I immediately loved this idea. I visited CJ in person and can highly recommend the whole experience. She has a wonderfully sensitive manner, I felt completely at ease in her company and she explained every step super clearly. I actually had a really fun morning, despite the context of the circumstances. The cast is still setting so I’ve only seen pictures, but it looks fabulous and I’m so pleased to have a record of my body pre-surgery. Not quite sure where I’ll put it yet, but I’ll work it out once I have recovered from my surgery

I hope you are recovering well from the surgery.
Wishing you all the best xx

Hi Jayesse, I hope you are recovering well. I’m so sorry you didn’t get to have a casting made, but this is exactly why I am trying to raise awareness of the service. Some people just haven’t heard of it before and some people panic that there’s not enough time to do it and some just don’t know where to look. So although a listing in the service providers directory would have been preferable as it’s a permanent thing, I am very grateful to admin for letting me post here in the forums. Although I’m not sure I’ve posted in the best place to be seen by people who’ve just heard the difficult news of diagnosis. Perhaps someone who knows the forums better could advise me and I might be able to move or duplicate the post in place best suited for those in need to find me. x

Thanks so much Feefers for your lovely testimonial. It was an honour to help and I’m looking forward to finishing your beautiful cast once it’s fully dried/cured. Hope everything goes smoothly from here on in with your recovery x

Maybe copy and paste to the Surgery section of the forum too ? Thank you for sharing what you do x
