Breast clinic 1st appointment tomorrow

Can anyone run through what I should expect tomorrow?

Ive found a little dent in my right breast when I raise my arm above my head, or clench my arm.  (I dont actually have muscle, but when I attempt to clench the dent appears)

ive been told to expect a mammogram, ultra sound and maybe a biopsy?  My husband is coming with me, will he be allowed in the room with me during those things?

Its my period so I’m now paranoid that my tender breasts normally arnt  this tender, that the aches and pains in my body are all related.

Ive decided to go private as my NHS appointment was going to be another 2 weeks. Ive told obviously my husband and my best friend.   How on earth do we  tell people, our family, if the diagnosis isn’t good.  I know we aren’t supposed to worry, but how do we not?

Hi Peacock,

This is always the worst time & inevitably, the mind goes into a bit of overdrive, so trying to take one stage at a time helps to handle this, although it’s difficult to do, we’ve all been there!

You are right about what to expect, but biopsy may not be necessary if it is clear what it is. My husband came in with me, apart from the mammo (X-rays).

Hopefully, all will be fine - it mostly is, so if, on the off chance, it is more serious, then you’ll cross that bridge of telling family & friends if it comes to that (bc is very treatable these days).

Fortunately, you are in the right place & getting it sorted.
