I had a breast cyst aspirated on 8 Nov. At the same time, I did have a mammogram which showed I have extremely dense breasts, along with an US if the lump (no other part of my breasts was scanned).
The cyst was fully aspirated and the fluid discarded (not sent for analysis), however, the cyst refilled after a few days.
Is this normal? From what I have read, cysts can take several months to refill and those that refill within a matter of weeks should be reevaluated.
I have seen cysts in other parts of the body refill relatively quickly - often it’s not anything to worry about but if I were you I think I would be looking to get it re evaluated . Xx
Thanks Joanna. I know cysts can refilled very quickly in other areas (I’ve had a couple of sebaceous ones removed for this reason), however, the guidelines for breast cysts seems different. I think it’s probably best I speak to my GP just to put my mind at rest.
Thanks for posting asking about the breast cyst that you had aspirated.
Some breast cysts do refill and some can refill sooner than others. As you say if you have questions its best to speak to your GP, they can refer you back to the breast clinic if your GP thinks you need to be reassessed.
