Breast Implant Illness/ Explant

Hello everyone,

I have been looking around here and am really surprised to see a lack of discussion around the growing story of Breast Implant Illness and the increasing uncertainty around the safety of breast implants.

As a patient with implant reconstruction severely pushed on me by the NHS and subsequently have spent years struggling with my immune system, fatigue, brain fog and multiple other symptoms that seem to be shared by numerous other women, I am wondering if anyone out there in this group has experienced similar symptoms.

I find it infuriating how quiet the NHS has been on the topic over the last few months as the governing bodies in other countries including the USA, France, Canada and Australia are starting to investigate and ban certain implants. As cancer patients in particular we should be given as much honest information as possible about our options and I feel like this is an area of discussion that seems to be lacking in this forum.

The risk is 1 in 24,000, so not a major issue , although I’m sorry you’ve been worried.

If I felt as you do, I’d have mine removed.

I am going through the exact same as you.

I have no idea who to contact and talk about getting my implant removed, I do have a appointment with my plastic surgeon in March 2020 but I don’t want to wait that long plus I know he won’t agree to removing it cause I asked four years ago and he talked me out of it.
