i have found several lumps in my left breast. im terrified that it is cancer. previously i have had cysts emptied but that was the right breast. this lumps feel totally different to the cysts,it is more solid but moveable.
anyone got any ideas as to what this could be? i have a hosp appt tomorrow at 3.20pm.
Hi
Welcome to the forums, where I am sure that you will receive lots of support and information from your fellow forum members. You may also find our publication helpful to read, it’s called ‘Referral to a breast clinic’, this can be downloaded from the website via the following link: breastcancercare.org.uk/content.php?page_id=12225 Please also feel free to call our helpline on 0808 800 6000 if you feel it would help to talk things through with someone in confidence. The line is open Mon-Fri 9am-5pm and Sat 9am-2pm.
Best wishes

Hi PCB
There are many things other than cancer that it could be cysts fybrodeama for example, in fact as you have probablly been told 90% of all lumps are not cancer so the stats are in your favour,
If your appt is at the breast clinic you will probally have the triple assessment, i.e mammograme, ultre-sound and FNA (fine needle aspiration) some areas you will get results on the day some you have to wait a few days.
If you are unfortunately one of the 10% then you will deal with it just as we have to, and I will not say it is easy, but believe me when I say the waiting is the worse part, once you know what you have to cope with then you do. You are in the scariest place at the moment “not knowing”
hope this helps
Best wishes
Linda
Sorry to hear that you have found new lumps and in the other breast. As Linda says 9 out of 10 lumps turn out not to be cancer - they could be a number of things which are easily dealt with. I hope you are able to come back tomorrow and announce the all clear, but if not then you will get a great deal of support on this site.
A coupe of colleagues hvae both had lumps investigated in the past and both had more than 1 lump at a time - both turned out to have clusters of cysts which were drained by FNA. Both ladies were told ‘safety in numbers’. I had one lump and it was cancer. Of course there are cases where some ladies have had more than one lump all of which were cancer, but I think these cases are rare.
At this stage it’s best not to delve too deeply into the theory - it’s so easy to read too much and scare yourself witless.
I will keep my fingers crossed for a good result tomorrow - also hope you get the results same day.,the waiting is horrendous.

I’m delighted to know you are in the clear. I do a little jiggle in my seat every time I see that another member here has escaped the nasty disease… it’s great knowing that it doesn’t get us all.
