Breast MRI for a diagnosis

Hi everyone, 

I just wanted to ask if anyone has had a breast MRI as part of their diagnosis. I had one last week and have my results on Thursday this week. 

Everything I’ve read everywhere says that breast MRI is used to detect how big the cancer is and not ‘if’ you have it. 

Just looking for a bit of reassurance I guess, my brain is constantly is overdrive!

There are some types of cancer that do not show up on ultrasound / mammogram and that can only be seen on MRI scan .If you have unexplained changes and nothing is showing on ultrasound / mammo they may just want to be sure they haven’t missed something ? Did they not explain why they wanted to do MRI ?
