Hello @taylor49 I want to welcome you to the forum where you will find lots of support as you go through these first stages of exploration and diagnosis. It’s a horrible place to be as you have no idea what the lump could be and so the mind goes to the worst places and, on top of that, there is all of the waiting for appointments, for results, for treatment plans which is very hard to deal with. First thing to say, however, is that there are a lot or reasons why you may have a lump in your breast without it being cancerous. If it is cancerous then a treatment plan will be put in place to remove the lump and prevent spread of any stray cells. There are tens of thousands of women who go through this every year and a large majority go on to lead cancer-free lives. If you have questions which cannot be answered until you’ve had your appointment, feel free to ring the Breast Cancer Now nurses on 0808 800 6000 between 9am-4pm Monday to Friday or 9am-1pm on Saturdays. I hope you get your appointment through quickly but keep posting here if it helps.

Hello taylor49

Thanks for posting.

You explain finding a breast lump and have a urgent referral to the breast clinic. It’s understandable you are feeling anxious at this time.

As @Tigress explains there can be a number of reasons why a breast lump develops and most breast lumps are not cancer, but it’s important to be sure. You will be thoroughly assessed at the breast clinic.

Hopefully you will have an appointment soon and while you wait you are welcome to call our helpline if you would like to talk this through or have any further questions. The helpline team have time to listen, talk things through and signpost you to additional support and information if necessary. Your call will be confidential, and the number is free from UK landlines and all mobile networks. The number is 0808 800 6000, (Relay UK -prefix 18001).

If you would prefer one of our nurses to call you. Please complete this form ticking the box agreeing to a call back.

As @Tigress says the opening hours are Monday to Friday 9am - 4pm and 9am -1pm on Saturday.
